SO whenever anyone mention about Malacca, I would be like thinking of baba nyoya, A Famosa, FOOD, Portuguese Village etc etc.I have not been to Malacca ever since I'm like 5 years old? When my lecturer told us about this programme, I'm kind of excited and looking forward to it. SO now the day has arrived! We're spending around 5 days to explore Malacca and this is a really great experience.
I woke up really early this morning to double check that I had pack everything that I need for my trip. Looking at all my friend's luggage, I think I'm really a light traveler compare to them? LOL. We depart from University around 11am and We arrived at Malacca at 1.30 p.m. The first impression of mine about Malacca is- MALACCA IS REALLY HOT! oh my god!
Let me give you some short information about the history of Malacca. Have you ever heard of Parameswara? He is a young, hot blooded Palembang Prince had a reputation of being a bit of a rebel in the eyes of the Javanese 'overlords'. During the early days of maritime trading, a great number of the orang laut (sea people) earned their living through piracy. Parameswara and his followers headed to Malaya and settled down in Bertam. One day he went hunting with his followers and he encountered a strange scene. Guess what? He was resting under a Melaka tree not far from the river and he saw his pack of dogs surrounding a mousedeer.
Instead of escaping, the mousedeer actually attacked the pack of dogs with no fear! The pack of dogs were terrified and ended up falling into the river. He was astounded by the will of the mousedeer to fight for its life and immediately knew that the hill of which he was standing on at the time would be his future. He immediately asked "What's the name of this tree? ' And that place was named Malacca after that. So This is how Malacca turned out to be MALACCA!

It took us about two hours ride by bus to reach Malacca from Kl. It wasn't really a long ride and You can actually stop by the Ayer Keroh R&R to take a rest or go grab some food!
The view of our campus / hotel that we are staying in. It's a really unique white building. It's really sad that I didn't get a room with the sea view. The place where we are staying in is actually used to be a hotel which is Lisbon hotel and now it turns out to be LimKokWing's Malacca campus. It is located in the Portuegese Settlement which has a breathtaking seaview and a humble fisherman village. So, this is the address of our hotel :
Jalan D'Albuquerque, Portuguese Settlement, Ujong Pasir, 75050 Melaka, Malaysia
There's two unique trishaws placed in the lobby of our campus. It is so nice! I wish to have a ride on it some day. We were given 2 hours of rest time before gathering for our briefing session . We were starving and we went to Claudia's home to cook ourselves some instant noodles. It was such a long and hot walk and we were all really exhausted.
Briefing session in the lecture hall. One of the committee from the Portuguese Settlement, Mr Richard gave us a short explaination and briefing about the attractive sites and interesting things to do in Malacca. It was a really clear briefing and I really wish to try the 'Curry Debal' that Mr Richard was describing. Nom Nom. What are the interesting sites in Malacca and what are the MUST DO"S in Malacca? RIVER BOAT CRUISE, A FAMOSA WATER PARK, MINI MALAYSIA, MINI ASEAN, CROCODILE FARM ETC. Are you as excited as I am? Stay tuned for my next post to know more about the amazing MALACCA! We were requested to gather at the lobby at 6.30pm to go on a cruise ride and dinner at Makhota parade. SO LET"S GO TO OUR VERY FIRST ADVENTURE IN MALACCA- THE RIVER BOAT CRUISE!
