To be continue- back to the jonker streets! :)

Here we go, back to the jonker streets!  I love how they decorate their streets. The jonker street is like some kind of china town in malacca. They have a lot of unique and nice shops in the jonker streets. The beautiful decorations are so attractive and I could hardly resist myself from entering all the shops!Let me give you some short introduction about the JONKER STREET! Jonker Street is the centre street of Chinatown which was once renowned for its antique shops.

The presence of the antique shops selling all the antique goods reflects the historical significance of the street.Jonker Streets actually reborn as a tourist spot when the government decided to close the traffic on the evening of the weekends which is Friday,Saturday and Sunday since 2000.Do you notice that there's a lot of one ways roads in Malacca? I find it really weird as while we're driving on the right lane I feel as if we're driving on the opposite lanes. LOL. The jonker streets aren't as crowded as how it is like nowadays.

Over the years it has turned to clothing and crafts outlets as well as all sorts of restaurants.  Remember I said that since 2000 the traffic was close in the Friday,Saturday and Sunday evenings? So here comes the best part of Jonker Street is the night market on Fridays and Saturdays that sells a lot of cheap stuffs! It is indeed an attractive place to visit in Melaka and a popular area of the historic city to visit. It is just across the river from the Dutch Square. The Opening Hours for the  Jonker Walk Night Market is Friday, 6-10pm,Saturday & Sunday, 11am-10pm.

It is too bad that we're leaving on Friday and I don't get to visit the night market. It's okay I will definitely come back to visit again on weekends! The Jonker Street is a highly recommended place for those who would like to discover Melaka in an interesting and interactive way. If you are planning to spend just like an hour or two there before going to another major attraction, think twice as it is not an ordinary and boring street! I bet people like me could spend up to whole day in the Jonker Street as there's so much to shop and eat there!

The View of the JONKER STREET! They have all sorts of traditional chinese lanterns hanging on the streets! So lovely!

THE JONKER STREET! Never knew that jonker streets are famous for chicken meatball rice until today! Hehe.
Here's the address for the Jonker Street Malacca :

Not to forget to mention all the yummy food in malacca. Eyes on the yummy cream puff ! It is located opposite the Geographer Cafe.
They have two flavours which is the yoghurt flavour and durian flavour. I can guarantee all the durian lovers that you will be madly in love with the durian puff!  Eat one puff at a time and dont even waste any bite! NOM NOM NOM. Its a must try in malacca!

Besides that, the jonker gallery and all sorts of boutiques there. They are selling nice and good quality clothes a t a reasonable price! I enjoyed shopping there like very much! The jonker streets is like streets where they are famous for chicken rice, meatballs etc etc. I'm in a hurry and I dont get to try the chicken rice there. I'll make sure I get back to jonker street again to try them!

This is the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. It is one of the most notable landmarks in Malacca. Set near the Hindu temple Sri Pogyatha Vinoyagar along Jalan Hang Lekiu (in Jonker Street) this Chinese temple is billed as the oldest Buddhist place of worship in the country. Built in 1646, it is also known as the ‘Merciful Cloud Temple’.

Look at this chinese traditional crafts! My mother used to wear them around the house area when I was a kid! haha. They all all sorts of designs so adorable!

This is the statue of Datuk Wira Dr Gan Boon Leong. It located in the middle of the Jonker Streets.
He is the Father of BodyBuilders in Malaysia.

Hard Rock cafe malacca is located at the Main entrance of the Jonker Streets! It is a building which you can to see the river view when you enjoy chilling in the cafe!

To sum up my opinion about the Jonker Streets- A Shopping heaven, A food heaven! A place where one can easily bargain for cheap items and shop for antiques there. This is the most well known shopping district in Malacca.  One can find Chinese food, Indian food ,Malay food and even local Portuguese food there.  Having trouble in looking for the right souvenirs for your friends and families? Jonker street also sells many tourist souvenirs such as the Malacca keychain and other collectibles. Go into all these shops to look for the ideal souvenir. You might want to buy a packet of traditional chinese biscuits or coffee as souvenirs!  Are you getting excited to visit the Jonker Streets already? This will help you out!

There you go! Search it on the google maps or use the GPS application such as Waze to help you head to the right destination!
